Our Facilities

These recently revitalized spaces dramatically expand the outdoor play and learning opportunities for all of our students. The creative, healthy, and vigorous play these spaces invite encourage the development of the whole child, reinforcing and broadening possibilities in the science, environmental, and social-emotional realms.

For a full look at our campus see our Interactive Virtual Tour!

Primary Grades Playground

One of three playgrounds on the Whitehaven Campus, the Primary Grades Playground encourages students to play together or explore independently and to create new games alone or in collaboration with their peers.

Our space inspires children, allows them to use their imagination, and invites them to explore nooks, crannies, and unique playground equipment, chosen to provide challenges and safe risks. Students through Grade 3 put the Primary Grades Playground to vigorous use.

Kindergarten Playground

With the playground designs, we enable our Nursery School and Lower School students to learn through imaginative play, which is vital for cognitive and social development.

The added treehouse tower and canopy walk as new focal points for play in this delightful space located just outside our Kindergarten doors.

Sports Deck

The goal of the physical education program is to help children develop a love of and respect for movement and fitness.

Within that context, there is a continual emphasis on individual effort, team cooperation, and social awareness. Our Grades 5-8 interscholastic basketball program competes in the gym. The stage is used for grade-level performances as well as our culminating Grade 8 musical. The 5,450-square-foot Sports Deck is used for basketball, four-square, recess, and all-around outside enjoyment.

Garden & Outdoor Learning Space

The 3,750-square-foot garden space has nine beds and room for outdoor classrooms.

The garden provides students the opportunity to use tools, learn about our food system, and watch plants grow throughout the year. St. Patrick’s faculty embed this garden space into the educational program to ensure that each student will have the opportunity to experience this dynamic addition to our curriculum. In addition to the garden, the Foxhall Campus has three archeological pits that support the Grade 5 Archeological Dig, a culmination of a year-long study of ancient civilizations.

Athletic Field

The Foxhall Campus athletic field and stadium complex is a remarkable facility to have available for school use.

Found in Washington DC, our regulation-sized soccer/lacrosse field allows lower & middle school students to experience the joy and benefit of fitness and to compete on our interscholastic sports teams. Competitive interscholastic sports enable students to practice and understand the values of teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship while developing a positive work ethic.

Tot Playground

St. Patrick's is excited to announce that we recently opened a redesigned playground—the Tot Playground—adjacent to the Whitehaven Campus.

Our children are physically, emotionally, and cognitively nourished by being active in outdoor and natural surroundings. The Tot Playground, Primary Grades Playground, and Kindergarten Playground enable our students to learn through imaginative play, which is vital for cognitive and social development.
