St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School seeks a full-time Maintenance Technician and Bus Driver.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Maintenance Technician/Bus Driver is the sole Maintenance Team member housed on the Middle School/MacArthur Campus at 4590 MacArthur Blvd. NW. The Maintenance Technician/Bus Driver is responsible for regular maintenance, building repair, and outdoor/grounds duties on the MacArthur Campus, as well as daily bus routes between the Whitehaven Campus and MacArthur Campus. The Maintenance Technician/Bus Driver also drives the bus for Lower School and Middle School field trips. This position reports to the Facilities Director.
The employee will use web-based event-scheduling software, eSpace, to determine event activity for the week ahead and perform set-up and break-down duties. The employee will also use eSpace to retrieve and respond to maintenance requests. The employee will be issued a smartphone with the eSpace app installed to have daily access to emails, text messages, and work/ event requests.
The job is a full-time position that occasionally requires working overtime during the workweek and weekends. Overtime work typically happens during the workweek and/or the weekends for supporting event requests and/or snow removal duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties in include:

Unlocking the building at 6:00 am and turning on the lights

Periodically checking exterior doors to maintain the safety and security of the building and the faculty and staff who inhabit it

General cleaning duties (inside and outside) of the buildings, such as o removing leaves and trash from the grounds

removing trash and recycling from the building
-
cleaning floors

laundry
-
monitoring the state of the bathrooms and cleaning as necessary

cleaning up after children who have been sick

Setting up for events

Cleaning up after events

Breaking down and putting away chairs and tables/tablecloths

Restocking coffee machines

- Removing snow after a snowstorm
- Distributing supplies to various locations in the building.
- Responding to maintenance- and event-related needs as communicated by the Facilities Director
- Supporting the Administrative Team during emergencies by understanding and performing the designated roles of this position in emergency situations
- Performing maintenance-related duties including, but not limited to:
- changing light bulbs
- performing plumbing repairs
- repairing door locks
- small carpentry repairs
- maintaining playground equipment in a safe condition
- repairing furniture
- painting
- monthly fire drill
- performing maintenance on the synthetic turf field
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Understand and carry out, with minimal supervision, directions written in English
- Relay the above-mentioned instructions to other Maintenance Team members
- Utilize a smartphone to send/receive text messages and emails as well as to access the internet
- Learn, and become proficient with, web-based event-scheduling and work-order software utilized by Day School
- Utilize basic hand tools as well as an electric drill
- Anticipate how actions while performing essential duties may have negative impacts on school events and/or educational programs and the ability to work to minimize these impacts (i.e. appreciating the negative impact of using an electric drill to make a repair in a room adjacent to a music class would have on that event)
- Work in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and efficient use of time
- Take a team approach where everyone’s focus is on maintaining safe and inviting facilities that support the Day School mission
- Be well organized in order to successfully manage multiple tasks and event-oriented needs
- Successfully complete a safety training class regarding the proper use of a lift
- Operate an all-terrain vehicle for the purposes of maintenance of a synthetic turf field
- Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Have experience in a trade (trade license preferred)
- Have experience using equipment such as a snowblower, tractor, leaf blower, etc., preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/GED
- Any Certificates/Diplomas/Degrees related to the job description as posted
- CDL license
- A minimum of three years of related experience equal in scope to the requirements and duties required for this position
- Experience in a school setting is desired

The physical demands described below represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must have the ability to:
- Lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and 100 lbs. occasionally
- Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Be comfortable with climbing ladders and using a lift
- Work outside in various conditions for prolonged periods of time
- Use hands to grasp and move items
