Sixteen excited Grade 8 students recently participated in an historic event. Thanks to a former parent, St. Patrick’s students were invited by NASA to be among the first to see the all-new space suit for the next moon shot. Traveling to NASA headquarters in southwest D.C., MacArthur Campus science teacher Bridget Mack and some of her students learned about the technology of the new fully-flexible space suit and the plans to orbit and encamp on the moon in preparation for the next destination: Mars. Join the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and the Parents Association for a Community Conversation around gender inclusivity with guest speaker Diana Bruce on Thursday, October 24, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, as St. Patrick's continues to explore ways our school community can be more welcoming and inclusive. Diana is an expert in her field, bringing more than 25 years of experience advancing gender equity, health education, and school health. Most notably, Diana led D.C. Public Schools' development and implementation of its Transgender and Gender-Nonconforming Policy Guidance and provided testimony on behalf of Gavin Grimm, the Virginia student who sued his school district seeking bathroom accommodations.
We welcome all members of the community to our next Parent Environmental Action Team meeting on Friday, October 25, from 8:15 to 9:15 am in the Day School Conference Room. We will be discussing our goals for the upcoming year regarding sustainable foods, healthy living, outdoor education, and waste management. We are excited to hear all ideas and perspectives. Please email early-childhood science teacher and Director of Sustainability Sam Mason at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you!
