Curriculum-Based Trips
Each grade at St. Patrick's has a signature trip aligned with the Middle School curriculum.
Grade 6
Grade 6 students spend three days at the Echo Hill Outdoor School. They study Chesapeake Bay ecology as a complement to their science work. They also experience plenty of thrills and opportunities for bonding outside the classroom, including a giant swing and an evening beach cookout.
Grade 7
Grade 7 students embark on a “More Perfect Union” trip, traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to experience the history they have learned about in the humanities classroom. Highlights of the trip include a visit to the National Constitution Center, a walking tour of the old city, and visits to the African American Museum and the Franklin Institute.
Grade 8
The Grade 8 year culminates in a trip to sites integral to the historic Civil Rights Movement. Students visit museums and historic sites in Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, and Atlanta, including the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the 16th Street Baptist Church, the Edmund Pettus bridge, the Civil Rights Memorial, and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.
