Infant-Toddler Childcare Center

At the moment, St. Patrick's Infant-Toddler Center is at capacity. We anticipate openings for the summer of 2023/Fall of 2023. We began the enrollment process in January 2023. Please complete our application if you are interested in the program for the summer or the 2023-2024 school year. We look forward to getting to know your child and family.

St. Patrick's Infant-Toddler Center (ITC) has been providing exceptional childcare since it opened in 1991, thus now celebrating its 30th year in operation. Teacher-tested and teacher-approved, the ITC is a nurturing, play-based program that promotes the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children in a loving and inclusive community. Grounded in the Day School’s mission and philosophy, the ITC reflects our recognition of the infinite value of every individual as a child of God. Children will feel loved and supported in our care.

Our Early Childhood Staff

Our ITC teachers are dedicated early-childhood professionals who are passionate about working with children at these important developmental stages of their lives.

All our teachers must meet professional requirements set forth by the District’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), pass Federal and District background checks, complete health physicals, possess current certification in First Aid and CPR, and meet annual professional development requirements as outlined by OSSE.

ITC teachers are evaluated annually by the director and receive feedback on professionalism and job performance. The St. Patrick’s Infant-Toddler Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Part of a Larger Setting and Continuum of Care for Children

The ITC is located in the main Church and Day School building at 4700 Whitehaven Parkway NW. While the ITC is, appropriately, largely “a place apart” from the Day School, its location on the campus offers some inherent benefits not normally associated with a typical daycare setting, particularly for the older ITC children. These benefits include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • An onsite registered nurse during hours of operation

  • Access to a number of play spaces, both indoors and outdoors

  • Access to the Garden & Outdoor Learning Center

  • A weekly read-aloud by the Day School librarian

  • A weekly yoga class with an in-house yoga instructor

Thank you for your interest in the St. Patrick’s Infant-Toddler Center (ITC).

We are thrilled that you are considering our program for your childcare needs and trust that you will find here a wealth of information to help you make this important decision. Our childcare center is a nurturing and secure environment with years of institutional experience in caring for and fostering the healthy development of infants and toddlers. Indeed, the ITC is “teacher tested,” as the program originated three decades ago to provide care exclusively for the children of Day School’s faculty and staff, under whose watchful eyes it has grown into the remarkable developmental environment it is today.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to learn more.

Best,

Practical Information

Parental Involvement

Building on the cooperative roots at the creation of the ITC, parent input and feedback are  integral parts of providing the best care possible. We welcome ideas, comments, and concerns from parents. Experience tells us that open and timely communication between parents and ITC staff is a key ingredient as we work toward the healthy development of each child in our care.

ITC Playground

St. Patrick's is excited to announce that we recently opened a redesigned playground—the Tot Playground—adjacent to the Whitehaven Campus.

Our children are physically, emotionally, and cognitively nourished by being active in outdoor and natural surroundings. The Tot Playground, Primary Grades Playground, and Kindergarten Playground enable our students to learn through imaginative play, which is vital for cognitive and social development.
