We believe that all people are created in the image of God and so we are called the Children of God. We believe that Honesty, Responsibility, Kindness, and Respect are essential to caring for ourselves, other people, and the world around us.

The work of equity and justice must be at the heart of an Episcopal parish day school education. St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School’s determination to promote equity and justice, diversity, and inclusion proceeds from two fundamental ideas: First, that every individual has infinite value as a child of God and, second, that we come to understand the world more fully through others. As such, our community is committed to exploring, understanding, and honoring the multiplicity of human experiences and identities that enrich our lives, including differences in belief, ethnicity, race, culture, country of origin, economic background, age, family configuration, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and ability. It is within a diverse and inclusive community that is welcoming and safe for all participants that we are best able to develop the skills necessary to be actively engaged and to thrive in an interconnected world, to understand other perspectives, to address bias, to oppose prejudice, and to promote justice. 

St. Patrick’s is an Episcopal parish day school nearing its 65th anniversary, having been created by resolution of the Vestry* of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in 1956. We began as a Nursery School with six students, located in the Church basement. Over the next several decades, we grew rapidly to our current size—approximately 460 students in Nursery to Grade 8 on two academic campuses and a third housing additional athletic facilities. 

The Board of Trustees of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School is the institution’s governing body. A standing committee of the Vestry of St. Patrick’s Parish with its own rules of organization, the Board of Trustees establishes the policies that guide the strategic, long-term vision of the Day School and the conduct of its business and financial affairs. Furthermore, Trustees make the Day School a philanthropic priority by contributing financial resources, each according to one’s own capability, in support of the Day School and seeking to encourage others to do likewise.

Trustees are nominated to three-year terms by the Board’s Committee on Trustees (a subcommittee of the Governance Committee), which annually presents a slate of candidates to the Board for approval. Each Trustee serves a maximum of two consecutive terms. Election to the Board of Trustees carries with it a responsibility of stewardship. Trustees accept the obligation not only to preserve, but also to develop further, St. Patrick’s educational program, broadly stated, and enhance its quality; reputation; commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and financial sustainability. In this way, Trustees help form not only the present, but also the future, character of the Day School.
