On May 8, Marquis de Lafayette, one of the great revolutionary thinkers of his time, visited with our Grades 7 and 8 students. A gift of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, an actor portraying Lafayette offered an interactive program to mark the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s storied tour of the United States in 1824. With tremendous energy and great ease in answering questions, Lafayette’s presentation piqued our students' interest in more fully exploring the concepts of freedom and democracy for all. We are confident that this experience, and others like it, will help our students evaluate and later participate in the great American experiment of democracy.
