Rethinking Parenting Coffee: SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) with Amy Killy, LCSW

On February 9, we hosted a parent coffee on the MacArthur Campus called Rethinking Parenting: SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) with Amy Killy, LCSW. Ms. Killy spent over an hour with parents in person and online, sharing strategies for helping parents and children manage anxiety while fostering resilience and growth.

Through visuals, anecdotes, and research, Ms. Killy discussed how anxiety manifests itself and why. She then helped parents understand that a mixture of supportive statements, appropriate accommodations, emotional literacy, and school partnership helps children learn to cope with anxious feelings.

Ms. Killy’s comforting demeanor set a supportive tone for the coffee, and the parents walked away with valuable tools and tips. For more information, please feel free to reach out to School counselor  Julianne Reilly
