New Baseball Team Offered to Middle School Students

Indicators of spring include longer days, flowers beginning to bloom and, this year at St. Patrick’s, the sounds of batted balls hitting baseball gloves. The new baseball program is open to Grades 6-8 students of all levels. Practices run by coaches Sam Hart, Shyrone Palms, and Vaughn Samuel are efficient and targeted, meeting each player at their level of development and experience. Practices currently consist of various hitting and fielding drills and allow players to practice in-game situations.

The first baseball game in St. Patrick’s history occurred on Thursday, April 6. Each pitch brought more growth and excitement. The Wolfhounds had some good swings, sharp defense, and accurate pitching. Even though we pitched a no-hitter, what impressed the coaches the most was how the team embodied the Wolfhound spirit. The less experienced players were eager to improve and learn the rules and intricacies of the game, and the more experienced players were keen to pass on their knowledge and tips. The players should be proud of their success, and we look forward to playing more games! Go, Wolfhounds!
