Middle School Students Shine at MathCounts

A team of dedicated St. Patrick’s Middle School mathematicians showcased their mathematical ability at the regional MathCounts competition at St. Anselm’s School on February 8, competing against approximately 15 schools from the area. Demonstrating strong problem-solving acumen and teamwork, our official team (Christopher A. ‘26, Charlie F. ‘26, Blaise L. ‘26, and Graham W. ‘25) placed an impressive 4th place in the competition, earning a spot in the state-level competition. A member of the 4th place team, Charlie F., placed 3rd overall in the individual competition. Their success reflects the students’ hard work, strategic thinking, and perseverance in tackling complex mathematical challenges under pressure.

In addition to the team's advancement, two other competitors (Margaret D. ‘26, Tasneem G. ‘25, Fifi M-R ‘25, and Caroline S. ‘26) stood out with outstanding performances, qualifying individually for the state round. This means they were in the top 20% of the 165 competitors. These achievements highlight not only the student’s individual problem-solving skills but also the strength of the school’s math program. The students and their coach are preparing rigorously for the upcoming state competition on March 15, where they will face even tougher challenges. We wish them luck in this next stage of competition.
