On Thursday, May 11, and Friday, May 12, the St. Patrick’s community came together for the eleventh annual Marcy Ference Hoops for Haiti to celebrate and support our partnership with St. Etienne School in Haiti. “Hoops” is a beloved tradition open to every division at St. Patrick’s. In the Nursery School, participants play basketball-inspired games after a pizza lunch, while Lower School participants engage in a knockout competition at our Athletics Field. We offer a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for the Middle School that culminates in a March Madness-style tournament. Congratulations to our winners, Lillie C., Thomas L., and Mario T., to our second-place team of Oliver C., Christian M., and Alexa P., and our third-place team of Campbell B., William R., and Sophie V.!
Haiti Committee Co-Chair Chris Bolger reflects on the event, “I am so thrilled to continue to serve as the Co-Chair of the Haiti Committee and to lead Hoops for Haiti! This year’s event was our best yet, with a record-breaking $59,000 raised, over 350 students participating, and the first year to feature alumni volunteers who helped serve as referees and event support. Thank you to everyone who donated, registered, and volunteered at the event. Thanks to you, St. Etienne is positioned for a great school year in the coming year.”
Thank you to the Haiti Committee, consisting of Chris Bolger, Victoria Gibson, Mary Beth James, and Sam Mason, for their leadership on this event and all their efforts on behalf of our partnership with St. Etienne!
