Grades 7 & 8 Choir Impress at Annual Choral Festival

Our Grades 7 & 8 choir members (45 in total) joined together with students from Georgetown Day School, Holton-Arms School, National Cathedral School, and St. Albans School to form a joint choir of nearly 250 singers for the annual Middle School Choral Festival. This year, the event was held on March 5 at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The students were in awe of this beautiful DC landmark, located on the grounds of The Catholic University of America, including the many ornate mosaics and large-scale pieces of religious art.

The program featured music ranging from the early 1600s to contemporary composers. The students sang in Latin, English, and Japanese and even added in some body percussion. Their joyful voices rang through the Basilica—sometimes, the reverberations of their voices lasted for up to 6 seconds! This is an incredible opportunity for our singers to sing with such a large ensemble, learn from other choir conductors, and connect with and make new peers from other schools. The excitement in the room was palpable!
