Grade 8 Students Shine at 20th Annual Performing and Studio Arts Night

It was time to celebrate a final intensive trimester's hard work in the arts as we reached the second Friday in May. Our extraordinary Grade 8 students created another wonderful Performing and Studio Arts Night, bringing their production of High School Musical, Jr. to life and highlighting their extraordinary visual art. Parents, teachers, alumni, and friends filled the space and took in the vibrant set, amazing singing, colorful costumes, and extraordinary artistic displays. 

Our artists’ work left the attendees inspired as they appreciated paintings, drawings, photographs, and 3-D pieces in the HIStory, HERstory, OURstory art show. When the event opened, each artist took time to share the vision they had for their work, standing by their collections and welcoming visitors for conversation and explanation. On the stage, our performers brought the audience to the halls of the Wolfhounds, where students discover the importance of friendship, confidence, and staying true to themselves. The story follows the popular basketball star Troy Bolton and academically driven Gabriella Montez as they step outside their usual roles to audition for the school musical. Along the way, their classmates learn to break free from stereotypes, support one another’s talents, and embrace the idea that people can pursue many different passions and interests.

Guided by Art teacher Kyujin Lee and Music teacher Alicia Knox, the night was a testament not only to the value of hard work but also to the depth of creativity nurtured here. The Wolfhounds came together to end the night, understanding that they are "all in this together" and that they know that they are all stars!
