Grade 8 Students Partner with Parents Association to Design Logowear

Four Grade 8 students have partnered with the Parents Association to design St. Patrick’s logowear this year. This collaboration was piloted last year by Kyler G. '23 and Samuel W. '23, who worked with Director of Constituent Relations Chris Bolger to design (much beloved!) flannel pajama pants and hoodies. After discussing the idea on the St. Patrick’s summer trip to Costa Rica, Brit A. ‘24, Sebastian E-S ‘24, Thomas L. ‘24, and Owen D. ‘24 started the school year excited to take on this project, which has grown and thrived.

The team meets once a week to brainstorm ideas, work on designs, and discuss marketing strategies. In the words of Thomas L., “We start by writing down our ideas and try to mesh them together. For example, we came up with the idea of the DC flag on the sleeve for our most recent design.” Sebastian E-S adds that the team is “a great way to show our leadership to high schools” and that he enjoys “building connections with each other and Mr. Bolger and finding a creative outlet.”

“From the Parents Association perspective, it has been so great to work with the Grade 8 logowear team because they have insight into what the Middle School students want to wear,”; shares the team’s mentor, Chris Bolger. This partnership between the PA and our Grade 8 students goes directly back to the mission statement of the Parents Association: “Welcoming Families. Building Community.”
