Grade 8 Students Engage in Photography Workshops

Students learned about the fundamentals of digital photography from founder Neil Freed (Freed Photography); topics included composition and subject strategies, DSLR mechanisms, lighting, and more. Grade 8 students will have the opportunity to borrow DSLRs, which were generously donated by the Parents Association, from Middle School administrators throughout the year to capture special moments on the MacArthur Campus.

This was the first of four workshops to be held with Freed Photography; the next will cover the Yearbook software, Jostens, and graphic design layouts. The goal of this newfound partnership is to encourage students who are interested in photography, graphic design, and ‘yearbooking’ to experience the planning and execution of the yearbook. These workshops allow students to wield publishing tools used in high schools, universities, and industries nationwide.
