Student Overnight to Camp Horizons: Fostering Teamwork and Community

Students in Grade 5 had a blast on their overnight field trip at Camp Horizons in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on October 12 and 13. They learned about farming strategies and had the chance to feed and pet goats, an alpaca, and a horse. Getting up close to pigs, a peacock, chickens, sheep, and cows was a treat; some students even got to bottle-feed a baby calf!

In the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, students worked together to build a fire from scratch, challenged themselves to ascend a rock climbing wall, and gathered around a campfire for songs, skits, and s’mores at Camp Horizons before spending the night in cabins. During breaks from activities, students played soccer, basketball, and gaga ball or chatted in groups. It was a wonderful experience full of bonding, challenge, and learning.
