Celebrating Wolfhound Pride: Winter Athletics Season Recap

The Boys JV basketball team exhibited remarkable skill this season, culminating in a stellar 14-3 record and a triumphant victory over Langley with a score of 49-26 to secure back-to-back championships in the Capital Athletic Conference. Guiding this impressive team was the skilled leadership of former St. Patrick's student Hiram Kenny Brewton W'10, who served as the Co-Head Coach. We take immense pride in Coach Brewton's exceptional work throughout the winter season. Congratulations to Co-Head Coach Derek Owens and the entire team on an exceptional season.

While the Boys Varsity basketball team fell short in the Capital Athletic Conference championship, they showcased their resilience by clinching a victory in the Washington Episcopal end-of-season tournament. The Wolfhounds emerged triumphant after defeating St. Alban's to secure the championship. Three Wolfhounds–Nate A-B. ‘24, Christian M. ‘25, and Mario T. ‘25– earned well-deserved spots on the Capital Athletic Conference All-Star team. Congratulations to their outstanding Head Coach, Dustin Owens, and all the members of the Boys Varsity team.

The Girls JV basketball team secured a victory in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament, triumphing over Sheridan with a score of 9-6. Despite a great effort, they faced a challenging matchup against eventual CAC champions, the Langley School, ultimately falling short with a score of 15-10. The girls displayed notable improvement and made significant strides throughout the season, showcasing their dedication and growth. Thanks to Coach Shyrone Palms for his great work with the girls and his dedication to the basketball program at St. Patrick’s.

The Girls Varsity basketball team displayed resilience throughout the season, ultimately reaching the Capital Athletic Conference championship game, where they faced a formidable Langley School team and narrowly lost with a final score of 31-25. Despite the championship game outcome, the team's journey was marked by significant achievements. The team excelled in Washington Episcopal School’s end-of-season tournament, claiming victory in the championship game against Green Acres. The Wolfhounds finished the season with a record of 10-3. The outstanding performance of four Wolfhounds–Lillie C. ‘24, Lillian L-M ‘24, Margaux N. ‘24, and Coco W. ‘24–earned them well-deserved spots on the Capital Athletic Conference All-Star team.
