On Friday, April 17, students, families, faculty, and staff in Grades 1 to 8 came together to support Horizons Greater Washington by participating in this year’s Cake Raffle, a beloved St. Patrick’s tradition that students look forward to each year. Led by the Grade 6 faculty, families, and students, the Cake Raffle is a time to celebrate our creativity, generosity, and, of course, love of cake!
One of the most exciting aspects of the Cake Raffle was taking in the fantastic creations conceived by students and faculty and staff. Students had the opportunity to win all types of cakes and cupcakes in the shape of volcanoes, meatballs and pasta, the Instagram logo, rainbows, and firepits. The joy and excitement in all attendees were evident in the energy in the Gymnasium & Performance Center. Grade 6 students were lined up and ready to share the winning cakes and cupcakes with the students. The smell of sugar and the sound of laughter filled the Gymnasium as hundreds of cakes made their way to classrooms for delivery at the end of the day.
This year, the St. Patrick’s Cake Raffle raised over $15,000 to support our partnership with Horizons Greater Washington. We are so thankful to everyone who participated in baking, purchasing tickets, and cheering.
