A Paw-fect Addition: Introducing the St. Patrick’s Dog Library

Thanks to the creativity and craftsmanship within our own community, the Dog Library has come to life in a truly special way. Francisco Serrano, a talented member of our Maintenance Team and a gifted woodworker, designed and built the structure with care and intention. The concept is simple and charming: a place where dogs can “borrow” and “leave” sticks of all sizes, adding a playful element to their daily walks through campus and the surrounding neighborhood.

The project quickly became a collaborative effort, bringing together multiple parts of our school community. After Francisco completed the structure, students in Ms. Wallack’s art class added their creative touch, painting the library and transforming it into a vibrant and welcoming installation. Their work turned a functional idea into a beautiful piece of art that reflects the spirit and imagination of our students.

Located next to the Across the Street Playground, near the Gymnasium & Performance Center, the Dog Library is already becoming a point of connection for neighbors, families, and visitors. Inspired by the talents of both our maintenance and arts department, Head of School Jalene Spain Thomas helped spark the idea, and it is wonderful to see it now fully realized.

We are thrilled to share this addition with our community and look forward to seeing it enjoyed by all. And this may be just the beginning. We hope to bring even more fun to campus with a future dog parade, and we look forward to sharing details soon.
