End-of-Year Celebrations Bring Wolfhound Spirit and Refreshed Traditions

As the school year came to a close, the Day School buzzed with a flurry of events and celebrations, including Field Day, the Middle School Leadership Legacy Ceremony, and Graduation.

Our annual Field Day, held at the Foxhall Campus, sparked excitement and school spirit across all grades—from our youngest learners to our most senior Wolfhounds. Organized and led by the Department of Physical Education and Athletics, the day was filled with energy, camaraderie, and movement. Students, teachers, and staff came together to enjoy a full slate of outdoor games, sports, and team-building activities that emphasized fun, perseverance, and teamwork.

Thanks to the dedication of faculty and staff who planned and ran the day’s events, Field Day was a great success and created lasting memories for all involved. In the end, the White Team took the win - and we’re already counting down to next year’s festivities!

Meanwhile, the Middle School was bustling with its own end-of-year traditions, with Grade 8 students taking center stage. At the annual Leadership Legacy Ceremony, students in Grades 7 and 8 celebrated the tradition of passing the torch. Grade 8 students offered heartfelt speeches of gratitude and advice and lit candles symbolizing the transition of leadership to the rising Class of 2026. As part of the ceremony, alumnus Thomas A. Duckenfield, III, ex. '76 and Head of School Jalene Spain Thomas inducted the Class of 2025 into the St. Patrick’s Alumni Association. The ceremony was a meaningful reminder of growth, community, and the enduring spirit of our most senior Wolfhounds.

We were delighted to share that The Right Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, offered this year's Graduation remarks. Bishop Budde had taken a sincere interest in getting to know our students, and we were honored that she shared her reflections as they prepared to take their next steps toward high school. Her presence brought wisdom, warmth, and inspiration to this important occasion.

To commemorate the Class of 2025, we invite you to watch this fun video of Grade 8 students alongside their PK3 peers, symbolic of a true full-circle moment.
