Community Members Shine at Annual Holiday Concert

On Thursday, December 11, St. Patrick’s hosted its annual Holiday Concert, shining a spotlight on our talented student musicians and dedicated music teachers, Alicia Knox, Laura Petersen, and Betsy Sebring. Families and friends were invited to an enchanting evening that celebrated the festive season through a rich and varied program of music from around the world.

The combined choirs opened the concert with the jaunty, medieval-inspired “Be Glad This Festive Day,” setting a joyful tone for the evening. Additional choral selections included arrangements of familiar holiday favorites and the lively Spanish carol “Riu, Riu, Chiu.” Showcasing remarkable versatility, our singers performed in English, Yiddish, Zulu, and Spanish. The Grades 7 and 8 Choir and Grades 5 and 6 Young Singers were joined by the Faculty and Staff Choir for an exciting, high-energy finale from South Africa, “Sizalewe.”

The handbell ensembles delighted the audience with a selection of beloved holiday classics, including “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Our two Orff Ensembles added to the festive spirit with engaging works by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman, filling the Nave with rhythm, movement, and joy.

It was a memorable evening filled with music, community, and holiday cheer. Thank you to all who made the Holiday Concert such a wonderful celebration!
