EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM TEST WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14
Parents must opt in to receive telephone calls for weather delays/closings! On Wednesday, November 14, St. Patrick's will test its emergency notification system. This system is used primarily to notify you of weather-related delays and closings, but it would also be used for an emergency. This system test will verify the contact information we have for you. You will be notified on ALL devices listed in your contact information in Veracross. Our system is set up to email, text, and call, meaning you should be receiving an email, telephone call, and/or text message for each entry in your record. Of course, in an actual emergency, the system will use all phone numbers.
WHITEHAVEN PARKWAY RESURFACING PROJECT CONTINUING
We reported to you yesterday on the milling and resurfacing of Whitehaven Parkway, NW, an extensive project for which we had no advance notice and the timeline for which continues to remain murky. We regret any difficulty you have had accessing Whitehaven Parkway and the Whitehaven Campus. Some difficulty may continue.

Join us Sunday, November 18, at 10:00 am for Episcopal Schools Sunday, when St. Patrick's Episcopal Church and Day School gather to worship and celebrate the essential work of Episcopal schools, both here at St. Patrick's and around the world. The theme for this year is, "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed."

Students and teachers have been working hard to prepare for the Day School's twelfth annual Gifts for Good alternative holiday gift fair.
HORIZONS GREATER WASHINGTON HOLDS FIRST SATURDAY PROGRAM SESSION OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Horizons Greater Washington (HGW) students enjoyed a half day of learning, enrichment, and fun last weekend. Maret played host to a combined program with students from all three HGW sites (St. Patrick's, Norwood, and Maret), which featured age-appropriate activities for students in Grades 1 to 8 from our public partner schools in the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, including St. Patrick's partner, Bancroft Elementary.

REMINDER: NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, PROFESSIONAL DAY
Shared professional time is not always easy to come by in a busy school day or week, and these days provide time for us to engage in the kind of program planning and professional development you would expect of a school of St. Patrick's caliber. Following the Thanksgiving holiday—on Monday, November 26—faculty and staff will spend a Professional Day working in advance of students' return from Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday, November 27.

Join your St. Patrick's friends with a family leaf-raking outing to benefit Palisades Village households on Saturday, November 10. We will meet here at Church, in the Great Hall, at 10:00 am for a quick breakfast before going out as a group to rake leaves for some elderly neighbors nearby. Please bring a rake and work gloves—all ages can help with this project, including those looking for SSL hours. "ANOTHER BAG OF CANDY?": DUE TOMORROW, NOVEMBER 9

Trick-or-treating may be over, but treating is still possible. Consistent with St. Patrick's spirit of giving and helping others, we would like to invite our students to give bags of Halloween candy to children and their families at NIH who were not able to go trick-or-treating. Donated candy will go to siblings of sick children staying at The Children's Inn, where people from all over the world reside while their children receive treatment at NIH.

St. Patrick's is excited to announce the return of the Costa Rica trip next summer, 2019, for students currently enrolled in Grades 6, 7, and 8. Our travel dates are August 18 to August 26.
