COURTYARD DUCKLINGS HATCH AND HEAD TOWARD WATER We have good news to report regarding the mother mallard duck who has been nesting in the Church Courtyard. We discovered Sunday afternoon that the nest was empty, with only some broken shells carefully hidden below mulch and feathers. The experts at Duck Watch, with whom we have been consulting during her time in residence, tell us conditions there mean that the ducklings have hatched! OUR FIRST OF THREE END-OF-YEAR CHAPEL CELEBRATIONS IS TOMORROW Tomorrow—Friday, June 8, at 8:30 am—is the Lower School Chapel of Celebration. The next two—both on Wednesday, June 13, the final day of school—are our Nursery School Closing Chapel and our Closing Chapel for Kindergarten to Grade 8. PARENT, TRUSTEE MANAR MORALES TO SPEAK AT CLASS OF 2018 GRADUATION Commencement activities for the Class of 2018 will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 7:00 pm. At that time, 34 students will become our 16th Grade 8 graduating class, concluding their St. Patrick's careers and moving on to high school. All members of the St. Patrick's community are invited to join us in the Nave for this joyous occasion. We are honored to welcome a thought leader on women's leadership, diversity, and workplace flexibility, Manar Sweillam Morales, as this year's speaker. ST. PATRICK'S PREPARES FOR TENTH SUMMER WITH HORIZONS PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP: POOL SHOES, TOWELS, AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Plans are well underway for our tenth summer as a host site for Horizons Greater Washington! We are pleased to report that Grade 5 teacher Chloe Hensold and Auxiliary Programs instructor Anne Chandra will bring their exceptional teaching skills to our Horizons students this summer. Grade 3 teacher Rachel Levin and Grade 1 teacher Annie Miller will return to their roles as Site Director and Assistant Site Director, respectively.
