FOUR GRADE 5 STUDENTS ARE FINALISTS IN D.C.-WIDE LITERATURE CONTEST
Grade 5 students Maci Cumberbatch, Claire Farina, Natalia Freedman, and Linden Thomas were selected as four of the 25 state-level finalists in this year's national Letters About Literature contest. Their submissions were selected out of 619 entries at the D.C. level. Those 25 finalists were honored at a D.C.-wide event at the Library of Congress last Saturday. The Letters About Literature contest challenges students to write a personal letter to an author explaining how that author's work changed their way of thinking about the world or themselves. Please go to http://www.read.gov/letters/ to learn more about this program.
