PATRICK'S PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL WALKOUT TO PROTEST GUN VIOLENCE Led by MacArthur Campus students, approximately 70 Grades 6, 7, and 8 students chose to participate in the National School Walkout, a national protest to call for stronger legislation to prevent further gun violence. The students planned their participation in the days leading up to the 17-minute National Walkout on Wednesday, March 14, at 10:00 am. As that time approached, a more spontaneous movement among Grade 5 students gathered momentum. And 10:00 am saw a majority of those students participating in a parallel walkout on the Whitehaven Campus. Click read more for details about the planning, participation, and protests. WASHINGTON- AND BALTIMORE-AREA HEADS OF SCHOOL CALL FOR ACTION TO END GUN VIOLENCE This week, in harmony with the initiative of our Grades 6, 7, and 8 students who led St. Patrick's participation in the National School Walkout, and many of our Grade 5 students whose more spontaneous decision to protest showed their strong views on gun violence, the heads of 133 independent schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia signed a letter opposing gun violence. The letter, which can be found here, has already appeared in the Baltimore Sun and will appear soon in the Washington Post. https://www.stpatsdc.org/who-we-are/welcome/area-independent-school-heads-letter-against-gun-violence ST.
