PATRICK'S WINS NATIONAL MEDIA AWARDS The National Association of Hispanic Publications recently recognized an article about diversity and inclusion at St. Patrick's and awarded gold to another article written by Grade 8 student Margaret Guilarte-Silva. Margaret's award originated in the "Humans of St. Patrick's" project she did in the Rev. Katie Solter's Grade 7 religion class. CAKE RAFFLE - YUM, YUM, AND YUMMIER! HEALTH OFFICE NOTES - IMPORTANT FLU INFORMATION TO REVIEW This year's influenza virus is a particularly strong one that has become widespread across the country. Thankfully thus far we have not seen many cases within our St. Patrick's community. Even so, we have several months of "flu season" remaining and want to do our best to prevent the spread. ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH CHILI DINNER AND GAME NIGHT ON SUNDAY EVENING St. Patrick's Church will host a chili dinner and game night on Sunday, January 28, at 5:00 pm in the Great Hall. All are welcome! We'll have a variety of games for different age and skill levels, so bring all the children to play and let someone else cook dinner! . SECOND LOOK ST. PATRICK'S EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL SUPPORTS MIRIAM'S KITCHEN'S WORK WITH HOMELESS There are more than 7,500 people who are homeless in the District on any given night. Of those, nearly 2,000 are considered chronically homeless—meaning they have been homeless for years or repeatedly and are living with chronic health issues. Miriam's Kitchen is committed to ending chronic homelessness in D.C. by creating meaningful connections with homeless individuals, connecting them to permanent supportive housing, and ensuring that they have the necessary support to remain in housing. They advocate for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution, while meeting short-term needs by providing healthy meals and high-quality social services to more than 4,300 chronically homeless individuals each year. BLACK HISTORY MONTH SHOWCASE THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1 On Thursday, February 1, at 6:00 pm, the students of C3 (Culture, Creed, and Community) will present a Black History Month Showcase, marking the sixth year of this special presentation of black history. The entire St. Patrick's community is invited to attend.
