MACARTHUR CAMPUS STUDENTS SPREAD WINGS IN EXCITING NEW SPACE
A great teacher can probably teach anywhere—and we have plenty of great teachers—but a beautiful new space certainly helps! The opening of the new MacArthur Campus represents a transformative moment in the life of our middle school and in the lives of our middle school students and teachers. The students have settled in quickly, bringing life and energy, intellectual engagement, and enthusiasm with them.

As we move into the new school year, we are pleased to introduce Nora Kloo as the MacArthur Campus Receptionist and Office Manager.

Green & White Night is a fantastic way to meet new people, catch up with friends you haven't seen since June, and see the new MacArthur Campus at 4590 MacArthur Blvd., NW. COMMUNITY MURALS, STUDENT ARTWORK UNDERWAY FOR VIBRANT DISPLAY
Art classes are busy creating collaborative artwork for display throughout the building to provide students with early opportunity to see their own work and that of their schoolmates celebrated on Day School walls. Community murals by students in Grades 1 to 5 will be on display in the Upper School Common Room and outside the Lower School Art Studio early next week. Please stop by to view the students' beautiful work!

MUSIC TEACHERS CONVERGE ON WHITEHAVEN CAMPUS FOR ORFF-SCHULWERK ASSOCIATION WORKSHOP
The Middle Atlantic Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association will host the first in a series of six workshops for local music educators on Saturday, September 16, in the St. Patrick's Gymnasium and Performance Center. Each workshop features a nationally recognized clinician.

CELEBRATE AND LEARN IN WASHINGTON, D.C., DURING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15, to October 15. During this month we celebrate the culture, traditions, and many contributions that our Spanish-speaking neighbors with roots in Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean have made. Please take a moment to see all the ways your families can partake in the many celebrations.

EVENING PROGRAMS BRING PARENTS BACK TO SCHOOL

SPECIAL-CONSIDERATION APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSION: TWO IMPORTANT DATES
It's hard to believe that it's already time to begin thinking about the 2018-2019 school year! To that end, special-consideration applications for Nursery and PK are due by Friday, November 10, and teacher recommendations for those students are due on Friday, December 1.

Have a sweet tooth? Come join Baking and Cooking Made Easy! We learn basic baking and cooking skills while we make delicious cupcakes, cookies, muffins, and other treats. We also learn the important steps of measuring, following recipes, and handling various ingredients.

HORIZONS GREATER WASHINGTON ENJOYS ITS NINTH SUMMER WITH ST. PATRICK'S
Horizons Greater Washington students again enjoyed a summer full of learning, enrichment, and fun this year, their eighth here at St. Patrick's and the ninth with St. Patrick's as a member of this public-private partnership. Horizons Greater Washington is a summer-based intervention intended to help students from economically disadvantaged families continue learning at a time when they might otherwise experience a decline in their academic development.
