Arrival, Dismissal, & Car Line

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL ROUTES

On both the Whitehaven Campus and the MacArthur Campus, school personnel and active or retired Metropolitan Police Department officers closely supervise arrival and dismissal times. Please obey their directions at all times.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL: TIMES

Car Pools

It is the school’s expectation that parents will form carpools. Carpooling offers a variety of benefits, including increased safety for children and for St. Patrick’s and non-St. Patrick’s drivers with reduced traffic congestion. Carpooling also moderates the impact of St. Patrick’s on the wider community by reducing the number of vehicles traveling to and from St. Patrick’s, shortens waiting time on the carpool line, and offers immediate and long-term environmental benefits.

All parents—including PK3/PK4 parents—must complete an Arrival/Dismissal Information and Authorization Form for each child (emailed to parents in the summer and also available on the website) to specify the dismissal route. Parents must return this form to the School Office by late August.

The Arrival/Dismissal Form includes space for parents to list members of carpools. Each carpool will receive a large color coded card bearing a student's name in PK3/PK4 or an assigned carpool number in the Lower School. Drivers picking up both PK3/PK4 and Lower School children should display both assigned cards.

Please note: If your child is to go home in any but the usual way, please notify the School by email or written note or, in an emergency only, by telephone. Teachers do not always have an opportunity to check emails or voicemails later in the day, so parents should call the Whitehaven Campus School Office (202-342-2805) or the MacArthur Campus reception desk (202-650-5324) with any late-in-the-day changes. Children are not released by the School without prior parental authorization.

Students who use public transportation to get to school and school-related activities will need to obtain a new SY 2024-2025 KRF SmarTrip card. Please request a Kids Ride Free application from the Middle School Receptionist or at the Whitehaven Front Office. Once that form is completed, it will be submitted and, when approved, returned to the School for conveyance to the student.
