How may I give a cash gift?
Gifts of cash of any size have an immediate impact on the Day School. The limit on fully deductible cash gifts is a maximum of 50% of adjusted gross income. Additional monies can usually be carried forward and deducted over a maximum of five subsequent years. Please make checks payable to St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School. What are Gifts of Appreciated Securities?
Gifts of stock, bonds, treasuries, and mutual funds that have increased in value are a win-win opportunity for the donor and the Day School. The donor avoids paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock and receives a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock when the gift is made. In order to do this, the stock generally must have been held long-term (more than one year). Gifts of appreciated securities are fully deductible up to a maximum of 30% of adjusted gross income. Additional value can usually be carried forward and deducted over a maximum of five subsequent years. If you plan to make a gift of securities, please call the Development Office at 202.342.7004 or FAX 202.342.7005.How to Give Stock: Morgan Stanley Smith Barney: DTC #0015 Account Broker: Michael Heuple Account #: 067-158728-097 Phone: 202-778-1280 Fax: 202-778-1270 St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School's Federal Tax ID #: 53-0196494PLEASE NOTE: It is important that the Development Office be notified of all stock transfers as soon as possible so the gift can be appropriately acknowledged.
How can I participate in Matching Gifts?
Many companies will match the contributions that employees (and sometimes retired employees) make to nonprofit organizations such as St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. Under a corporate matching gift program, gifts made by a company's eligible employee or employee's spouse are matched with company or corporate foundation funds—sometimes doubling or tripling the initial gift. To initiate a matching gift, potential donors should contact their personnel or human relations office for their company's matching gift form and send it with their donation to the Day School. Please note that matching gifts do not increase a donor's charitable deduction but do count towards The Day School's giving levels.
