SWIMMING
Swimming is an important part of Summer at St. Patrick’s. Children participating in full-day Junior and Senior programs swim daily. Children in the Nursery Program swim three days a week. Our emphasis is on fun in the water as children gain confidence and skill. Children enjoy games such as water relays, the Big Splash contest, and penny diving. Swim periods, in the pool at George Washington University’s Mount Vernon Campus, are carefully supervised by counselors and certified lifeguards. Water safety is the primary consideration at all times. A qualified pool manager is on duty to oversee swimming instruction and games.

TRANSPORTATION
St. Patrick’s does not operate a transportation service. Many families organize carpools, a practice we encourage. If you would like to arrange a carpool with others in your neighborhood, a list of families in your zip code will be available in the Summer Program Office after June 11. The lists will be provided with your information packet. Some families use a private van service. Please call the Summer Program Office if you are interested in such a service.
CLOTHING
Dress is informal. Tennis shoes are recommended. Children should bring a dry towel, swimsuit, and pool shoes. Your child’s name should be marked on all items, as we cannot be responsible for lost articles. A lost-and-found box is located near the main entrance. At the end of the summer, unclaimed items will be donated.
SUMMER AT ST. PATRICK'S T-SHIRT
Each child will receive a free program T-shirt, which should be worn on field trip days. Additional T-shirts may be purchased from the Summer Program Office for $12.00.
FOOD
Families provide their own lunches, which are kept in the air-conditioned classrooms. Snack and milk are available daily at no charge. Refrigeration and microwaving are not available. No soft drinks or glass containers, please. There is no place for children to purchase food.
