New for 2008
Two Early Bird Options!
Reading and writing
or
Math
The Early Bird Academic Program comprises two three-week sessions combining academic work and creative fun. New in 2008, there are now two options within this program, both run by experienced St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School teachers: The existing, and highly successful, reading and writing program as well as an exciting new program focused on math. These programs are intended for children whose current school performance indicates the need for structured academic support in either math or in reading and writing during the summer months. Designed for children entering Grades 2 and 3 in the fall of 2008, the Early Bird Academic Program provides a small-group academic experience, modeled after St. Patrick’s resource program. Enrollment for each group is limited to 12 children.
The Early Bird children participate in swimming, sing-along, P.E., outdoor play, and science with the Junior Program. Rather than making mini-class choices for the afternoon, the children remain with the Early Bird group for activities planned specifically to spark their interest and enrich their learning. The group will enjoy field trips and other specially scheduled events consistent with the goals of the program and the particular needs of the group.
In order to select the children most likely to benefit from the Early Bird Academic Program, we ask that applicants include a letter written by the child’s 2007-2008 classroom teacher outlining the child’s academic needs.
Early Bird applicants will be notified of their acceptance by May 19. Deposits collected for children who are not selected for this program will be refunded in full or transferred to another Junior Program.
