Athletics and Physical Education
Consistent with the St. Patrick’s School Creed—which promotes Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Kindness—athletics at St. Patrick’s also teach important lessons about sportsmanship and fair play.
Athletics at St. Patrick’s play an integral role in our effort to nurture the mind, body, and spirit of our students. Our athletic program mirrors our academic curriculum, in that it makes room both for individuality and for cooperation toward goals that will result in significant accomplishment. We believe that physical activity and participation on a team are important for every student. Thus, we offer our students athletic activities ranging from interscholastic and developmental team sports to physical education.
Often parents organize teams and groups to participate in local youth sports leagues, such as Stoddert Soccer. We ask that, when organizing these teams, parents follow the spirit of inclusion as outlined in our birthday party policy. Please extend an invitation to participate to all students in a grade or all students of one gender in a grade. If you are uncertain about how to compose a team in a manner consistent with this policy, please contact the appropriate Division Head. We highly discourage participation in outside activities that adopt exclusive, rather than inclusive, policies.
Thank you for your support of this policy!
Three impressive wins this week in lacrosse!
Two victories and one loss highlight the week.
Beginning in Nursery School, students
participate in physical education classes during the school day through Grade 6.
In Grades 7 and 8, participation in the athletic program is mandatory, replacing physical education as part of the school day.
Students in Grades 4 through 6 who are seeking greater skill development in soccer, basketball, or lacrosse and who may not be ready for interscholastic competition can participate in a series of once-a-week developmental clinics and seasonal competition. Lacrosse clinic is open to students in Grades 3 as well.
