Mission Statement

The Parents Association of St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School strives to involve all of our families in nurturing our diverse and welcoming community, supporting excellence in the education of all of our children, and creating a spirit of volunteerism and generosity that contributes to the life and vitality of the Day School. Guided by our Executive Committee, and in partnership with the broader school community, the Parents Association leads community-building and fundraising initiatives. These efforts enable us to support the professional development and recognition of our faculty and staff, to serve as a resource to school families, and to enhance the spirit and character of St. Patrick’s.

"Did you know?"

Did you know that the Parents Association awards travel and study grants to faculty and staff each summer? At the October 14 Parents Association meeting, the summer 2008 grant recipients—Mark Humphreys (London, England), Anne Harlan (Penland School of Crafts, North Carolina), Anne Tyler (Taize, France) and Therese Khan (Turkey)—shared their travel experiences.

While each journey was unique, reflecting individual scholarly interests, the recipients described--in enthusiastic unison--the profound impact of their travels. All agreed that their trips "enhanced their understanding of teaching and learning;" "allowed them to be models for their curious students;" and made them "enthusiastic learners" and "energized" individuals. Each traveler was "deeply grateful" to the parents of St. Patrick's for these "extraordinary" opportunities.

If you know or meet one of these faculty members, ask for a description of their interesting journeys. Or if you know a faculty/staff member with a sincere professional interest that would be enhanced by travel, encourage that individual to apply this winter for a Parents Association travel grant. St. Patrick's values professional development. The Parents Association extends this commitment with our annual travel grants, underscoring our sincere appreciation of our faculty and staff.
