GRADES 7 AND 8 STUDENTS TRAVEL TO SIGNIFICANT HISTORICAL SITES IN ANNUAL PILGRIMAGES
Each year, students in Grades 7 and 8 take multiday field trips to sites relevant to their academic studies. The Grade 8 students' Civil Rights Movement trip takes them to Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, pivotal cities in the movement. Grade 7 students embark on a new journey this year tracing, literally, the road to our republic, beginning in Plymouth, Massachusetts; travelling south to Philadelphia, the home of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution; and ending at Gettysburg, the turning point of the Civil War, which put that Constitution to the test.
VISITORS FROM NORTHERN IRELAND
On Monday, the Grades 7 and 8 community hosted some special visitors, eight young women from Northern Ireland. Thanks to Grade 8 student Charlotte Nordberg and the cultural exchange initiative she started as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award, we spent the morning with these students and their two faculty chaperones.
