Scheduling a Parent Visit
We are delighted to welcome families to see St. Patrick's in action. All tours of the school and parent interviews can be scheduled by calling the Admission Office at 202-342-2831/2807.
- Beginning in late September, individual parent interviews and tours are conducted for Kindergarten- Grade 8.
- Beginning in October, Nursery and PK group tours are conducted weekly.
- Parents may also opt to visit the school during our Open House on Friday, November 9 or Wednesday, January 9 for Nursery-8. Both programs will begin at the Whitehaven Campus at 9 am. It is strongly suggested that Kindergarten through Grade 8 applicant parents who choose this option also make an appointment to visit the Admission Office for an interview.
- Parent visits are designed for adults, thus we discourage families from bringing along young children.
Student Visits
After an application is received, families are contacted by the Admission Office to schedule a visit at St. Patrick's for their children. It is our hope that every child's visit will be a positive one. Please let us know ahead of time if your child has any special needs or restrictions.
In Nursery, PK, and Kindergarten, applicant visits occur as playdates in small groups. These playdates provide the Admission Office with an opportunity to observe applicants as they interact with their peers in play and structured activities. Children might dress up, play with clay, work on a puzzle, or hear a story during this 45-minute to one-hour session. During these playdates, parents have an opportunity to visit informally with someone from the Admission Office or the Head of School.
-
Applicants to Grades 1-8 visit a St. Patrick's classroom for the morning. During the visit, students have an opportunity to participate with St. Patrick's students in their current grade level in a classroom setting. They are also given an assessment by one of our learning resource teachers. Applicants should dress in comfortable clothes (including appropriate outdoor play clothes).
-
Applicants to Grade 7 visit throughout the school day both on the Whitehaven Campus in their current grade level as well as at the MacArthur Campus. Applicants should bring clothes for physical education. The dress code for Upper School students requires boys to wear a tucked-in collared shirt (or turtleneck) and girls to wear a tucked-in shirt or other blouse. Upper School students may not wear jeans or athletic gear except for PE. Closed-toe shoes with socks are also required. During the visit, students have an opportunity to participate with St. Patrick's students in a classroom setting, and are given an assessment by one of our learning resource teachers.
